9th August, 2010 At a meeting held in Kolkata, the Board of Directors of Harrisons Malayalam Ltd., an RPG Company, finalised today its results for the quarter ending June 2010 with income at Rs 76.53 crore, as against Rs 69.68 crore in Q1 FY 09-10. Although tea production during the quarter was higher by 4 per cent, the average tea price dropped by Rs 26 per kg over Q1 in the previous year. HML's replanting programme for both tea and rubber is going on as per its aggressive plans. The drop in own rubber production by 20 per cent is on expected lines. The average price realised for rubber at Rs 175.68 per kg is almost 50 per cent higher than Q1 FY09-10. The Company's major focus on replanting and infilling activities in April-June, 2010 resulted in an increased spending of Rs 4.69 crore (Rs 3.03 crore Q1 FY 2009-10). These initiatives are expected to yield positive results in the years to come. As against the Profit after Tax of Rs 2.93 crore reported in Q1 FY 2009-10, the Company has reported a loss of Rs 3.89 crore for Q1

11th May, 2010 Unaudited Results of Harrisons Malayalam for the year 2009-2010 has been published. The net profit is 11.47 Crores which is 5.43 crore more compared to last year.

29th January, 2010 Net profit of Harrisons Malayalam rose to Rs 6.36 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 0.87 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008

25th January, 2010 HML has bagged the contract for the construction of a central bus station of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) at Thiruvananthapuram by Kerala Transport Development and Financial Corporation. HML will undertake the civil, structural and electrical engineering contract works of the project which will cost Rs 50.28 crore and it is scheduled to be completed in 14 months. HML, is one among the oldest engineering companies in the State, had completed Projects at Cochin International Airport, Technopark, Kinfra, Calicut and Mysore Airports in the past.  

“We are very happy to have bagged this prestigious contract and we feel proud to be able to play a pivotal role in the construction of the modern land-mark building in the State Capital,” Mr Pankaj Kapoor, Managing Director, HML, said. The project would be completed using most modern technology and machinery before the scheduled time, Mr George Sebastian, Chief Manager (Project Division) HML said.  


HML Bags KSRTC contract The building will have 12 floors with an area of 3.5 lakh sq. ft., designed according to international standards based on Green building technology with modern facilities. The ground floor of the bus terminal will house the bus bay, passenger platform, terminal facilities that include office, enquiry, ticketing etc. among other things, central lobby and commercial area. The first floor will house commercial area and central lobby; the second floor, in addition to the space for shops and central lobby, will have facilities for parking cars and two wheelers. The third floor will house a convention centre and food court in addition to central lobby. Floors from fourth onwards will have areas for setting up offices. The building will be equipped with speed elevators, lifts and will be centrally air-conditioned. Every floor will be equipped with basic amenities and rest areas. The boundary wall and the sewage area slabs will also be constructed by HML.

30th September, 2009 The company has registered highest gross turnover of Rs 292 Crores in the year 2008-09. While briefing to media persons MD, Mr.Pankaj Kapoor told that the company has achieved 40% sales growth and improved the profitability even during the economic downturn. In the coming years the company proposes to focus on Engineering and FSO for increasing the turnover.  


AGM 2008-2009  

25th May, 2009 The Audited financial Result of the company was declared at the board meeting at Mumbai today. The Company registered a profit of Rs.8.01 Crores before tax and declared a divident of 15%.  


3rd April, 2009 Chairman Emeritus of the group Mr R.P.Goenka inaugurated accelerated infilling programm in Tea estates. 30 Lacs plants to be infilled in next three years.  


19th February 2009 Harrisons Malayalam Ltd  won seven awards after the final tasting session of the Golden Leaf India Awards on February 19 at the sidelines of India International Tea Convention 2009 (IITC) at Cochin. Out of 214 entries which entered the competition, 79 entries qualified the first two rounds. These 79 entries were tasted by a panel of jury members comprising Messrs Alexey Shvetsov (Russia), Ghassan Gharbawi (Iraq), Mahmoud El Nahas (Egypt), Marcus Wulf (Germany), Mehdi Hariri (Iran), Mohamed Heiza (Egypt) and Pradeep Jeyathilak (UK). 27th January 2009 The Board of Directors of Harrisons Malayalam, an RPG Company, finalized its third Quarter results today at its meeting held in Kolkata, with income at Rs. 69.68 crore registering a rise of 39% compared to Rs. 49.95 crore, the Third Quarter income in FY07. Profits were also affected due to the global meltdown, reflecting a sharp decline in rubber prices. Profit before Interest and Exceptional Items for the 3rd Quarter amounted to Rs. 4.58 crore. At Rs. 227.33 crore, during the first nine months HML surpassed its year ended March 08 turnover. This is 61% higher than the first 9 months turnover of Rs. 141.04 crore in FY07. The Profit before Interest and Exceptional Items during the first nine months of the year is Rs. 26.20 crore, up by 128%. Higher Production volumes and better price realizations have helped Harrisons Malayalam shore up its profits, despite increase in employee costs.


25th May 2008 Chairman Emeritus of the group Mr R.P.Goenka inaugurated the 56 Cr modernisation drive in Harrisons malayalam. The Plan envisages accelerated replanting programme in 1800 hectares of Rubber & 65 Lakh Tea Saplings to be planted over the next three years.  


24th April 2008 Mr Pankaj Kapoor takes over as MD of Harrisons Malayalam. Mr. Kapoor, 44 years, is a post graduate in Agriculture, with MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. During the last two decades, Mr. Kapoor worked in leading corporate such as Sandoz, ITC Zeneca and Jubilant Organosys where he was last working as President – Acetyles, Ethanol and Specialty Gases. Mr. Pankaj Kapoor  


16th April 2008 Operations commenced in Essen Tea factory at Niligiris.
